About TREX

TREX Traveling Exhibition Community is a hub for professionals working in the field of museum traveling exhibitions. What began with Mac West of Informal Learning Experiences as the Traveling Exhibit Database (TED) is now a new marketplace and forum led by Museum EXP.

"This site is a natural extension of what we love about the museum and traveling exhibits community—supporting collaboration and cheering each other on through our mission-related work." - John Shaw, Principal at Museum EXP

Museum EXP, LLC was founded by museum veterans Cynthia Brown and John Shaw. The firm specializes in exhibition development and project management for hands-on and content-rich museum exhibitions. John and Cynthia have extensive experience in developing and managing traveling exhibitions and are invested in shaping the future of traveling exhibitions. Museum EXP regularly conducts research and analysis of the museum traveling exhibitions market for partner organizations and leads teams in the development of innovative exhibitions and experiences.

For more information on how Museum EXP can lead or support your next permanent or traveling exhibition project, visit museumexp.com or reach out to John and Cynthia.

The TREX Traveling Exhibitions Forum is an in-person event which takes place in the spring and fall of each year coinciding with the AAM and ASTC conferences. The event includes networking with museum industry peers and the opportunity for 30 organizations to present their new and in-development traveling exhibitions to an audience of museum representatives and professionals. It is organized by Museum EXP and made possible by support from our colleagues in the field.

The Traveling Exhibition Awards are a new way to celebrate achievements, exemplary design, and innovation in the field of museum traveling exhibitions. We thought it was about time that our talented colleagues in this unique field had the opportunity to be recognized for their knowledge, skill, and hard work. You can self-nominate, but we also encourage you to acknowledge the work of your peers and those who you admire.
